Equality and Inclusivity Statement
I believe everyone should have a wedding experience free from discrimination, prejudice and exclusion, and I’m committed to providing an inclusive and accessible service for my couples and their guests.
I believe everyone should have a wedding experience free from discrimination, prejudice and exclusion, and I’m committed to providing an inclusive and accessible service for my couples and their guests.
I hope it goes without saying, but I believe in marriage equality for all, regardless of sexuality, race or ethnicity, faith, gender, age or disability. If you don’t share these beliefs, then I’m not the celebrant for you. I work hard to embody this every day, dedicating CPD time to learning how to be the most inclusive celebrant I can be.
As a celebrant trained and accreditted by Humanists UK / Humanist Ceremonies, I am part of an organisation which has a long history of campaigning to remove discrimination from our society and which has long championed same-sex weddings since long before they were legally recognised. I am also a member of the Safe Space Alliance. A safe space is somewhere where LGBTQI+ communities in particular can freely express themselves without fear. It is a space that does not tolerate violence, bullying or hate speech towards LGBTQI+ communities.
Working with a celebrant is deeply personal. It’s important for you to know before we work together that you and your love, your story and your people are safe with me. I will not assume, and will be entirely guided by you as to how you identify yourself and your union.
When it comes to the planning process, I’m more than happy to make whatever adaptations make the journey as easy as possible for you. When it comes to the ceremony itself, we can work out a way of ensuring the space is a comfortable and accessible place to be for you and all your guests. Whether that be physical access needs, neurodivergence, anxiety, sensory or other issues, these will be accommodated with sensitivity and respect.
